Scholarship Possibilities
A. CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS. IASSCS is awarding a number of competitive scholarships to individuals from Latin America; Central, South and South-East Asia; The Pacific; Eastern Europe; Africa and the Middle East who are working in sexuality related fields or studying human sexuality. The number of recipients and type of support offered will depend on demand and availability of additional funds.
The IASSCS Conference Scholarship includes one or more of the following:
a) Admission to the IASSCS Conference
b) Accommodations for 5 days during the IASSCS Conference
c) Subsistence allowance for 5 days
d) Airfare (least-expensive, most-direct economy flight)
Selections will be based on solid and original work by the applicant, as well as publications, fieldwork, or long-standing involvement on topics relevant to sexual rights. Applications from a variety of professional fields and institutional backgrounds are welcome. All applicants should submit an abstract for a paper or poster.
Decisions will be made by the IASSCS Committee and acceptance letters will be e-mailed on March 28, 2007. Applicants may apply for both the IASSCS Post-conference Fellowship and the IASSCS Conference Scholarship, if they so wish.

A 200-word letter of application describing your career/studies, how your career/studies specifically relate to sexual rights, why you would like to participate in the conference, and how that participation will play a role in your career/studies

B. POST-CONFERENCE FELLOWSHIPS. IASSCS is awarding a number of competitive fellowships to individuals from Latin America; Central, South and South-East Asia; The Pacific; Eastern Europe; Africa and the Middle East who are working in sexuality related fields or studying human sexuality and wish to stay after the conference and participate in the post-conference training. Individuals can apply for scholarships (one or more of the four support concepts) and/or for fellowships (one or more of the three support concepts) The specialized sexuality research training for the selected fellows will take place from July 2 to July 13, 2007
The 2-week training on sexuality (conducted in the Spanish language) will be held after the Conference. It will be offered by Cayetano Heredia University School of Public Health, in collaboration with the Latin American Center for Sexuality and Human Rights (CLAM, State University of Rio de Janeiro) and the NationalSexualityResourceCenter (NSRC, San FranciscoStateUniversity).
The IASSCS post-conference Fellowship includes the following:
a) Registration fee (US$600) - Specialized sexuality research training for two weeks at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, in Lima.
b) Accommodation for 2 weeks (June 30 – July 13).
c) Subsistence allowance for 14 days.
Selections will be based on solid and original work by the applicant, as well as publications, fieldwork, or long-standing involvement on topics relevant to sexual rights movements. Applications from a variety of professional fields and institutional backgrounds are welcome. Individuals from Latin America are encouraged to submit applications. All applicants should submit an abstract for a paper or poster.

Applicants may or may not apply for both the IASSCS Post-conference Training Workshop and the IASSCS Conference Scholarship. Note that, if applying for fellowships only, they are responsible for their own transportation to Lima.

A 500-word letter of application describing your career/studies, how your career/studies specifically relate to sexual rights, why you would like to participate in the conference and the two-week training, and how that participation will play a role in your career/studies.
4) Research proposal outline.
An outline of a research proposal you would like to work on during the Training. This research project needs to be in its early stages of development at the time of the Training. Your research also needs to be qualitative in nature. Please include the purpose of your research (i.e. PhD proposal, journal article, magazine article, etc.). Proposal profile must be redacted in four or five pages not considering bibliography reference information; half space paragraph, typography size 12.
