Prizes will be awarded to the authors of the best papers given at the conference

IASSCS will offer two awards for outstanding scholarship to beginning researchers (less than 35 years old at the time of the conference). Each prize will consist of US$ 500 (Five hundred U.S. Dollars).  One will be offered to an oral presentation and one will be for a poster.  

The journal Culture, Health and Sexuality will also offer a prize of £500 (sterling) to the author of the best paper by a ‘newcomer’ to research in the field of sexuality, culture and health.

To be considered for these awards:

  1. Conference participants should be sole authors of the papers considered.
  2. Their work should remain unpublished at the time of the meeting.

To be considered for the CHS award, participants must in addition be within three years of having completed a Masters degree or Doctorate in the field of sexuality, and must be able to produce proof of this.

Once the acceptance of your abstract(s) for talks or poster presentations is confirmed, please send your complete presentation by email no later that 15 May 2007 to: 2007conference1@iasscs.org

Please attach a letter specifying the award for which you wish to be considered and a summarized curriculum vitae which includes your personal information and demonstrates the fulfillment of the requirements for each award.

A special Committee will review candidate papers.  Their decision will be announced during the Conference.  The award will be wired to the winners during July 2007 in line with the bank information they provide.

IASSCS will make efforts to facilitate the publication of the selected papers, subject to successful subsequent peer review. The journals associated with IASSCS will be considered as a first option for publication.
